About the event
What is this workshop about?
Jhilmil Mehfil is where movement sparks imagination and community creates magic. Co-hosted by Meenaa and Playhouse, this workshop celebrates the connection between physical expression and creative flow, rooted in the Indian tradition of mehfil, where people gather to share, create, and celebrate together.
There’s something powerful that happens when you move before you make: ideas flow more freely, creative blocks soften, and you tap into a kind of intuitive knowing that’s harder to access when sitting still. This session puts that into practice. We begin with a joyful, energizing movement session designed to wake up your body and open creative channels. From there, we shift into guided art-making, translating movement and sensation into spontaneous mark-making and color play.
You don’t have to be an artist or a dancer, we focus on exploring what your body has to say, and how you can express that through your hands.
What You’ll Experience:
A 30-min movement session led by a Kunal, founder of Playhouse. Playful, accessible, and designed to unlock energy and flow
A 1-hour art-making session with Ro, founder of Meenaa, guiding you to express what you felt through shape, texture, and color
A 30-min session to relax and connect over snacks and tea.
Prompts and creative tools to help you let go of overthinking and stay present in the making process
A space to connect, reflect, and share in community
Music, snacks, and the kind of vibe where strangers become collaborators
You’ll Leave With:
Original artwork created from your flow state
A deeper understanding of the link between body and creativity
Tools to unlock creative energy anytime you feel stuck
A sense of connection to yourself, to others, and to the joy of making
What to Bring:
Clothes you can move freely in
Clothes you don’t mind getting messy
